Citing Journals

     In class, you will be given a copy of an article from a magazine. Pretend that you are using the material to write a paragraph, and do the following. (Number your paper.)

(You can use A Basic Guide for Producing the Research Paper in class.)

1. Write the citation for the Works Cited list. (5 points)

2. Paraphrase from the article, such that you will need both the author and page number in the in-text citation. Include the in-text citation. (5 points for paraphrase & 5 points for citation)

3. Quote from the article, such that you will need only the page number in the in-text citation. Include the in-text citation.  (5 points for quotation & 5 points for citation)

4. Pretend that you have two sources by this author, and that you are doing # 2 (above). How would the in-text citation differ? (5 points)

5. Pretend that you have a source from another author with the same last name, and that you are doing # 2 (above). How would the in-text citation differ? (5 points)
